Gather

The table can be the heart of your home, a very natural place to gather around and connect with your Spouse, Children, and old and new Friends. We even find that meetings and work events go better around a homey, relaxed table than a busy coffee shop or boardroom. We have met with Jesus around our table, learning together to share about the highs and low of our day with Gratitude and Joy etc. The Table should be a place for Transformation, for Training, and for Worship.  Wether it’s a busy table of children, or a dinner party for new acquaintances, check out the articles and stories below for inspiration for tonights adventures around the table!

12 Unprocessed, Nutrient-rich Snacks for kids and busy people!

Our theme these two weeks is ‘Transitioning to REAL FOOD’. These weeks were actually inspired by a chat I had with a dear friend who’s young son has sensory issues that can make meal-times very challenging. Like many of us, my friend’s primary concern in just getting her son to eat SOMETHING! Little children often […]

So everybody, what was YOUR highlight of the day?

So everybody, what was YOUR highlight of the day?

Our 7-year-old dings his fork against a glass every night, to catch the table’s attention. And then he asks the question, “So everybody, what was YOUR highlight of the day?” We then go around the table and EVERYONE has to share something. Even if their day sucked, we challenge each person to find something that […]

Recipe Round-up: 'cleanse-worthy' food for the whole family.

Recipe Round-up: ‘cleanse-worthy’ food for the whole family.

Once a year I love to do a 30 day cleanse. I love the feeling of starting fresh and getting my eating habits and digestion back to their best. Shedding a few unwanted lbs sometimes comes as a side-note to the rest of the package… peaceful sleep, a clear head and focus when I train. […]

How We Gather: Friday Night Celebration

How We Gather: Friday Night Celebration

It has been a very productive work week here in Huntington Beach.  We all needed to stop and celebrate!  What better way to do so then have friends over for dinner?  We set the table and lit some candles.  Wiped down counters and swept the floor.  Tonight, we fired up the BBQ and combined some Community […]

Benefits of: Going Gluten-Free

Benefits of: Going Gluten-Free

(Note: I’m not a health professional. I’m simply sharing what has worked for us.) GLUTEN is a mixture of two proteins; present in all wheat-based products, many other grain products and countless processed foods and sauces etc. You will find it in most processed foods, and of course all breads, pastas, cookies etc. I’ve been toying with […]

How We Gather: Relaxed Weeknight Gatherings.

How We Gather: Relaxed Weeknight Gatherings.

by Bethany Reid You know, missionaries almost always have time to gather. I know this because I was a full-time missionary for 12 years. One aspect of my JOB was to gather my team and those I was working with!  One year into living and working in Suburbia HQ (the Bay Area, California) I’m discovering […]

on being relaxed about having people over..

photo by Jake Mason Living in a very affluent community (and Nation), our homes are beautiful… or we feel they must be. We view our homes as an extension of ourselves… if they are messy or unfinished it’s a bad reaction of who we are right?  Having friends over can be a nerve-wracking event, one […]

using your Table... to Practice Gratitude.

using your Table… to Practice Gratitude.

Gathering a large family, small family, or a group of friends around a meal is such fun. It’s also loud, messy, and often difficult to actually have a decent conversation!    (my siblings gathered around the Table… ) We have experienced how speaking out Gratitude increases Faith, brings Joy, heals hurting hearts, and shifts the […]

Choosing quality ingredients - thoughts on Sea Salt

Choosing quality ingredients – thoughts on Sea Salt

In my opinion Salt has been given a bad name. Salt has formed the backbone of economies through the ages, and any dish served without it lacks a certain something. But not ALL Salt is in fact the same.  Healthy and delicious food relies on the use of quality ingredients. Choosing a good quality salt is important! Himalayan […]

Going Organic – go to list for what you REALLY need to buy Organic, and what you can leave.

Going Organic can seem daunting and expensive at first. We have learned to be a bit more ‘organic savy’, buying the products that really NEED to be organic not just any junk food revamped with a ‘USDA Organic’ sign slapped on it! The easiest way to get Organic and Local fresh produce is to get […]

Any service for the Lord...

Any service for the Lord…

“Any service for the Lord, no matter how menial, can become a joy-filled, meaningful assignment if we keep focused on the magnificent Master who has directed us to serve Him by serving others” As I read this The Lord immediately took my mind to Cooking and Hospitality. It gives such clear perspective for WHY […]

Changing families in Africa, through training women how to gather their families for dinner.

Here is a story from our years in Africa to want to share with you. The point of it is that you can take any group of people, no matter how dysfunctional and impoverished and teach them value for themselves and others ( which is of course a value straight from the character and nature […]
